This is the tutorial for the Virtuoso Visualization & Analysis (ViVA)product from Cadence and focuses on the core features of ViVA runningin standalone mode. ViVA contains two levels, "L" which is the basic waveform viewing capabilities found previously in AWD and WaveScan and "XL" which includes advanced extensions to the basic "L" product.Detail descriptions on ViVA can be found in the following Cadence publication:"Virtuoso Visualization & Analysis (ViVA) User Guide"The steps required to work through the tutorial are described in Chapter 2, Standalone ViVA, of the following Cadence publication:"Virtuoso Visualization & Analysis (ViVA) Tutorial"Getting Started---------------The files for the tutorial are in a tarred, compressed file, calledstandalone_viva.tar.gz, located in the same directory that holds thisREADME file.To prepare for the tutorial:1. Copy standalone_viva.tar.gz to the directory where you want to install the tutorial files.2. Move to the directory that you copied the file into and uncompress and untar the file. For example, you might use the command: gunzip standalone_viva.tar.gz tar xvf standalone_viva.tar3. Move down into the directory standalone_viva. That directory contains the ampsim.raw and ampsim.scs files, and about 20 other files and directories.4. Check your setup by running the command which viva If the operating system does not return the location of the executable file, check your installation.5. Run the command printenv SPECTRE_DEFAULTS and ensure that the simulator is not set to write wsfbin, nutbin, or any of the ASCII formats. To use ViVA, the simulator must be using the psfbin or SST2 formats.NOTE: Starting with IC6.1.0 simulator are no longer included in thedfII hierarchy. To run Spectre, SpectreRF, UltraSim you must includethe MMSIM stream in your path. To run AMS, you must include theIUS stream in your path.6. Follow the instructions in the "Standalone ViVA" chapter of the "ViVA Tutorial" to continue. |
