This is a long channel high Ron PMOS, providing bias current for OP-AMP. At startup, Vout is at low voltage and the bias current is high for quick start. When Vout is at its final value, the PMOS VGS is small and provides a nominal bias current.
At turn-off, a constant current is passed through the transistor (on the lower left PD NMOS transistor). The designer forgot to prevent the current from cutting off during shutdown, but dump it to GND. not good. |
