Job Description
Introduction
The Media Processing Division produces Graphics hardware and software products for mobile and embedded devices. Our Mali™ Graphics Processors (GPUs) have an advanced, highly programmable architecture for accelerating 2D and 3D graphics, specifically tuned for high performance and energy efficiency. Our flagship Mali-T604 multi-core GPU sets a new standard for graphics and compute performance with low energy consumption. Our OpenGL ES, OpenVG and OpenCL support cutting edge gaming and state of the art user interfaces on operating systems such as Linux, Android, Symbian and Windows CE.
We are looking for a passionate individual who has significant experience in technical leadership and engineering management. The successful candidate will lead an engineering team working on next generation graphics drivers. To be successful in this role, the individual requires strong technical skills, proven track record in delivering complex products to market, proven experience in managing highly performing engineering teams, strong planning skills, the ability to deep-dive on technical issues, strong multi-tasking skills, and excellent verbal and written communication. This role in based in Shanghai China.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Responsible for managing software engineering teams distributed across multiple design centres
Responsible for managing all areas of software projects, including schedule, resource, tracking, reporting, technology, delivery, and support
Responsible for the development and delivery of current and future products
Responsible for ensuring that projects schedules are aligned to internal and external requirements
Responsible for determining resource requirements for current and future projects
Responsible for tracking and reporting project status, and for reporting status to project stakeholders
Responsible for the architecture and technology direction of current and future software products
Responsible for ongoing quality and process improvements, and for driving best engineering practices
Job Requirements
Education & Qualifications
Bachelors, Masters or PhD (computer science or electronics engineering) with good academic record.
Essential Skills & Experience
Extensive experience of embedded software development for a commercial organization
Proven track record in delivery of complex software products, both as a technical leader and as an engineering manager
Strong planning skills – both top-down and bottoms-up using both traditional and Agile/Scrum methodologies
Expert knowledge of C/C++
Experienced with software design methodologies including some experience of UML
Experience with developing device drivers or kernel-level components for Linux or similar operating systems
Comprehensive knowledge of full Software life-cycle including specification design, test, optimisation, and documentation
Proven track record in identifying and introducing process and quality improvements
Proficiency in problem solving and debugging skills.
Practical, organized and analytical approach to work.
Proven successful experience of interaction with (and co-design with) hardware design teams
Highly pro-active, and strong multi-tasking skills
Excellent communication and networking skills to interact with senior management and partners
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience of embedded operating systems, device drivers, microprocessor and embedded system hardware architectures
Knowledge of Khronos multimedia standards and Microsoft standards
Experience in 2D/3D graphics technology and standards such as OpenGL, OpenGL ES, OpenVG, M3G, Direct3D Mobile, DirectX and EGL
Knowledge of Windows and UNIX development environments
Knowledge of the XX architecture, XX assembler
Experience with digital video
Experience in large, multi-site software development projects
Familiar with open-source project development cycle and contribution process
Interpersonal Skills
Capable of working both independently and as a team member.
Good English communication skills, oral and written.
Able to work to tight deadlines.
Ability to easily switch between assigned tasks
Willingness to travel occasionally to XX design centers and partners worldwide
