This application note is intended for hardware and firmware design
engineers that need to detect small changes in capacitance.
Description :
This application note shows a switched capacitor circuit that uses a
PICmicro® microcontroller, and minimal external passive components,
to measure small changes in capacitance. The values are very repeatable
under constant environmental conditions. The design is measured to
verify the theory and design choices. Some design alternatives and
modifications are explored. Information on the circuit board and firmware
used in the measurements is included. References to documents that
treat these subjects in more depth and breadth have been included in the
"References" section. |
