A Floating CMOS Bandgap Voltage Reference
for Differential Applications

Abstract —The first floating CMOS bandgap Yoltage reference is reported.
The circuit is very suitable for precision mixed-mode systems,
using the differential approach, especially for the case of single supply
operation. An experimental prototype, realized in a 2-pm CMOS technology,
generates a continuous-time low-impedance voltage of 2.48 V + M mv
hefore trimming. The temperature coefficient measured on 30 samples
ranges from – 20 to +32 ppm/°C in tbe temperature range from O to
100”C. Thanks to the differential approach, a high-frequency power supply
rejection of -50 dB at 100 kHz was achieved, which is the best ever
reported. The active area of the chip is 1800 milz and the circuit dissipates
6 mW when operated from a single 5-V snpply. |
