FPGA implementation of a baseband MIMO MC-CDMA
downlink receiver
This work presents the FPGA implementation of a downlink baseband Multi-Car Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA) receiver, with and without Multi
Input Multiple-Output (MIMO). Since the Code Division Multiple Access (CDM
component of MC-CDMA is not dened yet, it was assumed for this work that W band CDMA (WCDMA) will be used. The use of dierent modulation schemes s as Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK), 16-level Quadrature Amplitude Molation (16QAM), and 64-level Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (64QAM) a with the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) technique prohigh speed data transmission over multipath fading channels. The channel moused are as specied in the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Teccal Specication TS 25.101v2.10, namely indoor-to-outdoor/pedestrian and vehicenvironments with a channel bandwidth of 5 MHz.The MIMO system used is based on a Layered Space-Time (LST) receiver using Mmum Mean Square Error (MMSE) weight calculation. This method requires a mainversion operation which is implemented using the Sherman Morrison techniquereduce computing time, MMSE weights are computed at the pilots and interpolafor the remaining frequencies.
