Title:Electromagnetism for Electronic Engineers
Author:Richard Carter
Subjects:Engineering
Key words:Electromagnetism, Electronic, Engineers
Abstract
Electromagnetism is fundamental to the whole of electrical andelectronic engineering. It provides the basis for understanding theuses of electricity and for the design of the whole spectrum of devicesfrom the largest turbo-alternators to the smallest microcircuits. Thisbook starts with conventional sequence of presentation, beginning withelectrostatics, then moving to current electricity, the magneticeffects of currents, electromagnetic induction and electromagneticwaves.
Product Description
Unlike other publications, this new bookoffers a different approach to the study of electromagneticcompatibility (EMC). It emphasizes the understanding of relevantelectromagnetic interactions in increasingly complex systems.Mathematical tools are introduced when pursuing the physical pictureunaided becomes counterproductive. In order to handle complexity, numerical tools are developed and the basis and capabilities of thesetools are presented.Part I of the book covers underlying concepts andtechniques. This includes discussions on electromagnetic fields, electrical circuit components, and electrical signals and circuits. Thesecond part deals with general EMC concepts and techniques and will beuseful for predicting the EMC behavior of systems. More practicaltechniques used to control electromagnetic interference and the designof EMC into products are presented in Part III. The main EMC standardsand test techniques are described in the final part of thebook.Chapters are designed to allow readers to study the entire book ata pace which reflects their own background and interests. The bookappeals to both EMC applications-oriented and analysis-orientedreaders. This text provides useful source material for a serious studyof EMC, including references to more advanced work.
