Native NMOS does not need extra mask. It share same N/P+ source/drain implantion directly on p-substrate, without well implantation.
TSMC all provide native NMOS spice model in its logic/MM process.

I think it should be the source follower, there is less voltage drop between Vgs because of its smaller Vth.
