I tried a slightly different approach.
I specified the drive where questasim64_2025.1 is installed using the -patch option.
C:\questasim64_2025.1>SaltdKG.exe -patch C:\
Siemens SALTD License KeyGen 14.30.85
©2025 by Team EFA (Eda For All).
Error: Cannot overwrite C:\Users\joshu\AppData\Local\Temp\LICENSE.TMP
Patch=C:\
Scanned : 2 Packages
Features: 194 Station, 1540 Composites, 220 Atomic and 218 Extended.
Verifying files on "C:" ........Cannot open C:\questasim64_2025.1\win64\salt_mgls.dll to analize...
Please close all Pads or Xpedition programs that may be running...
Aborting program ...
C:\questasim64_2025.1>dir C:\questasim64_2025.1\win64\salt_mgls.dll
Volume in drive C is Optane 900P 280GB
Volume Serial Number is BE3B-5A0A
Directory of C:\questasim64_2025.1\win64
01/17/2025 05:46 PM 5,070,392 salt_mgls.dll
1 File(s) 5,070,392 bytes
0 Dir(s) 125,727,248,384 bytes free
The error "Cannot overwrite C:\Users\joshu\AppData\Local\Temp\LICENSE.TMP" still occurs,
but I can see that packages are found:
Scanned : 2 Packages
Features: 194 Station, 1540 Composites, 220 Atomic and 218 Extended.
When I tried other “ridiculous” attempts such as specifying -pkg folder or -dll folder instead of -patch folder, it still behaved stupidly with the result "No Packages".
Only with the -patch folder option does it actually find packages.
However, another error occurs:
"Cannot open C:\questasim64_2025.1\win64\salt_mgls.dll to analize"
By running dir C:\questasim64_2025.1\win64\salt_mgls.dll, I confirmed that the file does exist.
Since I’m running as administrator, when it says it cannot open the file, I interpret that as it simply failing to get the required information for execution. The status report just shows “Cannot open.”
The last message, “Please close all Pads or Xpedition programs”, leads me to suspect that SaltdKG can only be applied to Siemens (Mentor) applications such as Pads and Xpedition.
It seems to me that the person who built SaltdKG.exe and MentorKG.exe may have started distributing them without doing much testing.
Has anyone else experienced the same issue as me? Or have you had no problems at all?
The fact that nobody in the forum mentions this suggests there’s no issue with the tool itself, and that the problem lies in my execution method—but I just can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.
I would greatly appreciate any advice from experienced seniors.
