Description:
The Supply Chain Director, China will be based in Hangzhou and report to both the President of A123 China and the Executive Director of Global Supply Chain. The Supply Chain Director, China will have responsibility for purchasing, supplier quality and commodity management. The candidate will work closely with global Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Program Mgmt and Operations teams in developing and leading the supplier and commodity strategies t to support manufacturing requirements. Excellent knowledge of manufacturing, commodity management, purchasing, quality and supplier management with demonstrated strong sourcing and negotiations skills required.
Responsibility:
Provide leadership to the Purchasing and Supplier Quality teams to meet delivery, quality and cost objectives to support current and future production.
Be the hands-on leader for supplier sourcing strategies. Work closely with the Engineering Team to locate, analyze, and develop a high quality supply base for new products and programs. Coordinate activities with the A123 Global Team to maximize leverage.
Conduct on-site supplier audits to perform risk assessment and performance capabilities.
Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement.
Negotiate and manage contracts and agreements for key commodities and suppliers
Manage supplier’s quality, cost, capacity and delivery performance in support of KPI objectives including annual cost reductions.
Understand, track, and forecast the key cost drivers and market factors for key commodities.
Managing and optimizing supplier performance, including continuous improvement, innovations, obsolescence and reduction in total cost of ownership.
Experience: Fluent in Chinese with good written and spoken English Business/technical degree required Commodity experience in areas such as stampings, molded components, harnesses, enclosures, electronics for automotive applications. Lithium Ion battery materials commodity knowledge a plus.
Minimum 10 years’ experience working in a technical manufacturing company in areas such as: supplier management, operations, program management, quality and engineering. Excellent negotiations skills and contract experience Excellent presentation, verbal and written skills. Excellent team work and program management skills - Ability to travel internationally
