Design -vs- Layout of RF IC, which one is better?

I got a excellent opportunity to work for a high frequency IC design team in a wellknown semiconductor company. But I have no experience in analog IC design. Relevant work I have done in my Master/PhD are a little layout design with Cadence and some ASIC / SOC designs. But the interviewer said they will have an expericenced senior engineer to train me up.
Then the interviewer asked me about my specific work I am interesting at, design, layout or simulation. I have on idea which one is more challenging and higher demanded (MORE MONEY PAID :-) ). I chose layout designer as my starting position which is suggested by one of colleague before. But some people say layout work is more suitable for girls (I am male).
So how do you think? design or layout? Which one is better for me, a guy with no analog IC design experience? and why?
Please help me on this question, thank you!!!!

我刚拿到一个在Analog Devices工作的机会，挺难得的，因为我自己只有一些SOC/VHDL的设计经验，还有就是博士的时候用Cadence画了几张掩模版图（不是硅工艺的）。但面试的人问我想向哪个个方向发展，我实在选不定，但又怕他们觉得自己不够决心，所以选了layout，这也是我一位做过layout的同事建议的。（在国外工作不好找尤其是公司里的，而且都需要工作经验）。
但后来被告知，如果不是自己设计layout block，那么layout 工作并没有那么难，而需要比较仔细，所以更适合女的做（我觉得RFIC可能不同情况吧，而且说这些话的人都不是做IC的）。
女怕嫁错郎，男怕入错行。我博士毕业年纪不小，浪费不起时间。希望5-6年成为比较独立的IC工程师，10年成为资深级别。
故此，需要各位大侠给给意见。
