A Field Applications Engineer (FAE) is the technical business driver responsible for providing pre-sales technical support for Synopsys' DesignWare Application Specific Instruction-set Processor (ASIP) product line within the China region. He/She may need to support ASIP for other countries in AP region and cover certain level support for DesignWare ARC cores within China.

The FAE role requires working with customers, sales, marketing, corporate applications engineering, and product R&D teams from different locations. ASIP FAEs will be involved in customer meetings to understand customers’ technical requirements for ASIP products, and will be responsible for supporting the engagements via on-site or remote technical interactions and regular meetings, resolving presales technical issues, providing demos, supporting evaluations, addressing competitive challenges, and regularly communicating status during the engagement. ASIP FAEs also provide field inputs to product teams on competitive data and new feature requirements based on customer experiences.

Qualified applicants will have a BSEE, MSEE preferred, and 5+ years relevant experience in ASIC design with hands-on experience in a role related to embedded systems design (embedded software development, processor design, or hardware design). Prior FAE experience is preferred. Candidates must have proficiency in C programming for performance and efficiency, strong aptitude and technical background in processor architectures including an appreciation for the various tradeoffs that drive performance, power and cost. Candidates must be independent and proactive, possess strong communication skills with the ability to conduct technical meetings, presentations, seminars, product demonstrations and have the ability to learn quickly. Travel (up to 30%) within the China and AP regions may be required.
