ABSTRACT
Creating an ECO to fix hold violations can be time-consuming. If a designer tries to determine interactively the changes required, they must first define the changes for one PVT corner, then confirm that the changes do not create new setup or hold violations in other corners. If there are multiple timing modes, all timing modes must be checked as well to confirm that no new violations arise. If a violation shows up in another corner or mode, the change must be updated and verified for all scenarios again. If there are hundreds or thousands of hold violations, it is unrealistic to expect the designer to define ECO changes in this manner. A more efficient option is to use a hold-fixing script that takes advantage of PrimeTime's Distributed Multi-Scenario Analysis (DMSA) capability. With DMSA, all PVT scenarios and all timing modes can be checked in parallel, and the ECO change generated accordingly. The purpose of this paper is to discuss how ADI and Synopsys Professional Services implemented the DMSA hold-fixing script in the ADI design flow. |
