At low giga-hertz, there is no much to do now.
Maybe:
very high dynamic range receiver, digital phased-array, and mimo radar chipsets for the defense applications.
RFICs usually refer to low giga-hertz radio chips. Inter-connections can be treated as RC parasitics, and therefore EM simulations are not necessary; unless the lines are very long, and should be modeled as transmission lines.
Spiral inductors and transformers should be EM modeled for circuit simulations.
