    Demir's theory is definitely the most accurate one, but almost no use to designers. Nevertheless, it's best for numerical simulation. I heard the pnoise in cadence is using demir's theory.

Recently I am working on the DCO design, and would really delighted if we could discuss this topic seriously, and fruitfully on this forum. Not only Demir's theory, maybe we can also include Hajimiri's, abidi's, styaert's etc. And I also see tons of papers trying to investigate mechanism from the point of view of circuit designer. From my experience, which mechanism dominates really depends on the vco architecture. And I also find that in the literature it seems that noise from supply and bias are neglected, which definitely contributes a lot.
