what's the meaning of the word 'slack'

I am reading a synthesis results of TSMC memory cell and have no sence about this parameter. It should be leant before but now I forget the meaning and can not find the definaiton. I only know it is sth related to the time margin .But I want to know some more detals. Please help me and forgive me to type it in english because of my office computer. Thanks in advance.

也就说，Slack是一个松驰时间，对于它，某一个任务有一个期望时间，在这个期望时刻，它必须完成，否则将会引起其它任务的延迟。它的数值，等于任务完成的实际时间与期望时间之差。
