A lot of things have changed in consumer electronics and the technology that enables them in the 10 years since I wrote the frst edition of this book in 2007. In 2007, the frst iPhone was released, and small hard disk drives were being used to store music on portable music players. Today, all mobile devices use ﬂash memory for storage, and consumers are wearing digital watches and even digital rings. Consumers are using the Internet to stream videos and store their content or for accessing application from the cloud. As a result of these developments, the second edition of this book had undergone signifcant modifcations.
