CMOS Cascade Sigma-Delta Modulators for Sensors and Telecom: Error Analysis and Practical Design presents architectures, circuits, models, methods and practical considerations for the design of high-performance low-pass switched-capacitor (SC) sigma-delta A/D interfaces for mixed-signal CMOS asics. Main focus is on cascade architectures, although considerations pertaining to circuits and error analysis are general and hence valid for other architectures.
The book differs from others in the complete, in-depth coverage of SC circuit errors, in the detailed elaboration and description of practical design plan, and in the thorough presentation of considerations leading to practical high-performance designs. Another differentiating feature of this book is the coverage into a unified description of largely different application areas. On the one hand, sensor front-ends, where the limiting factor is thermal noise. On the other, wire-line telecom front-ends, where the limiting factor is linked to the dynamic behavior of the building blocks.
The book starts with a tutorial presentation of the fundamentals of low-pass sigma-delta modulators, their applications, and their most common architectures. This presentation is both complete and comprehensive. It then presents an exhaustive analysis of SC circuit errors with a twofold outcome. On the one hand, compact expressions are derived to support design plans and quick top-down design. On the other, detailed behavioral models are presented to support accurate verification. This set of models allow the designer to determine the required specifications for the different modulator building blocks and form the basis of a systematic design approach. The book is completed in subsequent chapters with the detailed presentation of three high-performance modulator ICs: the first two are intended for DSL-like applications, whereas the third one is intended for automotive sensors.

CMOS Cascade Sigma-Delta Modulators for Sensors and Telecom: Error Analysis and Practical Design contains highly valuable information that is structured to give the reader the necessary insight on how to design SC sigma-delta modulators. In this sense, the book is intended for a large audience: from mixed-signal designers who want to optimize and to shorten the design cycle of sigma-delta modulators with challenging specifications, to non-experienced readers who want a comprehensive and practical description of sigma-delta design and SC errors

第二本  High-Accuracy Switched-Capacitor Techniques_ Applied to Filter and ADC Design

Switched capacitor (SC) techniques are well proven to be excellent candidates for implementing critical analogue functions with high accuracy, surpassing other analogue techniques when embedded in mixed-signal CMOS VLSI. Conventional SC circuits are primarily limited in accuracy by a) capacitor matching and b) the accuracy with which a differential amplifier can squeeze charge from one capacitor to another between clock periods.
In Switched-Capacitor Techniques for High-Accuracy Filter and ADC Design, alternative SC techniques are proposed which allow the achievement of higher intrinsic analogue functional accuracy than previously possible in such application areas as analogue filter and ADC design. The design philosophy is to create the required functionality without relying on digital calibration or correction means but instead to develop methods which have reduced dependence on both component matching (especially capacitor matching) and parasitic effects (especially parasitic capacitance). However, the proposed techniques are just as amenable to further digital accuracy enhancement via calibration and/or correction as traditional methods. Two popular application areas are explored in the course of this book for exploitation of the proposed techniques, viz. SC filters and algorithmic ADCs - both cyclic and pipelined. Furthermore, efficient system level design procedures are explored in each of these two areas.
The validity of the concepts developed and analyzed in Switched-Capacitor Techniques for High-Accuracy Filter and ADC Design has been demonstrated in practice with the design of CMOS SC bandpass filters and algorithmic ADC stages. For example, a 10.7MHz radio IF selectivity filter integrated in standard CMOS, employing the proposed methods, achieves an accuracy greater than ceramic filters. Another example is an ADC with better than 12-bit intrinsic accuracy, albeit capacitors with only 9-bits matching accuracy were used in the realization. The ADC architecture is also very robust and proven in an embedded digital VLSI application in the very newest 65nm CMOS. The power consumptions and silicon areas of the solutions proposed here are lower than other known solutions from the literature.

Feedforward Amplifiers for Wideband Communication Systems has been possible thanks to the research carried out throughout several years in the field of the linearization techniques applied to digital communication systems, particularly to those with high spectral efficient modulation techniques.
The wireless telecommunications are more and more demanded for the Information Society. Such requirements are reflected as a great many of communication standards with specific coverage applications and, above all, with higher and higher data transmission rates.
The electromagnetic spectrum, nevertheless, is a scarce asset that can not be spread and despite the increasingly tendency to transmit in higher frequencies, the bandwidths assigned to each application are always exploited to the limit.
Feedforward Amplifiers for Wideband Communication Systems merges in the need of developing frequency efficient modulations with widespread codification techniques that result in wideband communication systems, with strict regulations in the usable frequency bandwidths and tight restrictions in the spurious emissions over the remaining spectrum.
The radio frequency transmitters do not remain impassive to those changes, especially the power amplifiers, which efficiency and linearity directly determines the correct performance of the entire transmission system. The linearity specifications are commonly fixed by the telecommunication standards while the efficiency rates directly strikes the commercial viability of these transmitters.
Feedforward Amplifiers for Wideband Communication Systems tries to put into practice the Feedforward linearization technique, aimed at improving either the linearity or efficiency parameters of power amplifiers, just intended for achieving a trade-off between the distortion specifications of the telecommunication standards and the efficiency enhancement of the transmission systems, which set, respectively, the linearity and the output level requirements of power amplifiers.
This challenge is enshrined in one of the present wideband communication systems, but all the recommended design guidelines are perfectly reusable in the future wideband applications.

Electromagnetic Compatibility of Integrated Circuits: Techniques for Low Emission and Susceptibility focuses on the electromagnetic compatibility of integrated circuits.
