Preamp Analog/Mixed Signal Design Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Design high speed analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits within custom chips for the
hard disk drive industry
- Work directly with customers to determine system requirements, write specifications and
guide customers in the use of pre-amplifier products
- Use high speed electronic characterization equipment to evaluate and debug the
functionality of the design once the part is fabricated in silicon
- Provide technical leadership through all phases of product development including test,
yield, characterization, reliability analysis, qualification and release to manufacturing
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
LSI's Storage Peripherals Group is looking for an experienced custom analog IC designer to
join the pre-amplifier design team. At LSI we are committed to innovation and industry
leadership. We develop advanced high-speed magneto electronic read/write IC architectures
as the basis for our products.
Design team members define, create and modify high-speed custom integrated circuits for
hard disk drive (HDD) products using leading edge CMOS and SiGe BiCMOS technologies.
Team members support the entire product life cycle beginning with design and moving through
test, qualification, release to production and ramp to volume.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field), MS required, Ph.D. preferred
- Minimum three to five years experience in discrete, transistor level analog circuit design
- Experience with analog and mixed signal IC product design, integration and verification is
required
- Strong physical layout knowledge and parasitic component understanding essential
- Process and device physics knowledge critical
- Proven skills using electronic measurement equipment in a lab environment
- Expertise in applied magnetism and recording a strong plus

2.
Digital IC Design Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Working with an Architecture/Algorithm Development Team to finalize system architecture
for optimal implementation of digital signal processing algorithms, including architectural
definition and tradeoffs, die size estimation.
- Digital logic design, verilog coding, logic synthesis, both RTL and gate level verification,
formal verification and static timing analysis.
- Perform some transistor level high speed digital integrated circuit design various cells and
blocks within custom chips for the hard disk drive industry. Examples of cells and blocks
include multiplexors, adders, multipliers, dividers, specific functional macro blocks,
- Work very closely with physical design engineers from floorplan through final parasitic
extraction to ensure smallest area and highest performance possible.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Communicate effectively within a global business environment (must be proficient in both
spoken and written English)
- Experience in logic design, synthesis, static timing analysis, and verification
- Experience with asic EDA tools used in synthesis, simulation, static timing analysis, and
formal verification
- Experience in developing simulation and verification test benches
- Knowledge of Verilog/Vhdl design languages
- Excellent technical troubleshooting and demonstrated problem solving skills
- Must be willing to follow a structured design approach including design for reuse and
provide thorough design documentation

Read Channel Verification Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a member of the Read Channel team, candidate must be willing to work as an extended
member of the design team. Duties will include functional verification of Storage read
channel mixed-signal IP. Candidate will be expected to contribute to design and development
of System Verilog based verification environment and will be responsible for verification
closure of block/chip/system level functions for mixed signal based IP. Experience with
System Verilog and functional coverage methodologies are required. Must be willing to
follow a disciplined verification methodology and to work closely with a multi-location,
international design team. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
BSEE with 3-5+ years of design and/or verification experience required, MSEE preferred.

- Expertise in System Verilog required

Preamp Custom Layout Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION:
LSI's Storage Peripherals Group is looking for an experienced IC physical design engineer to
join the pre-amplifier design team. As a preamp physical design (layout) engineer you will work
closely with circuit design to implement high-speed custom analog designs and develop mask
layouts for customer products. You will join a cross-functional team responsible for developing
leading edge high-speed magneto electronic read/write IC products that ultimately achieve
high volume production.
- Layout high speed analog and mixed-signal custom chips for the hard disk drive industry
- Work directly with a team of engineers to determine floor plan, routing and I/O
requirements for preamp IC's
- Perform IC design rule and connectivity verification and drive products through mask
release flows.
- Contribute to methodology improvements to increase layout and verification efficiency.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) or equivalent experience
- Minimum three to five years experience in custom analog IC physical design
- Experience with schematic-driven layout, floor planning, chip level routing, design for
manufacturing and design rule and connectivity verification is required
- Experience using Cadence virtuoso XL and VCAR router preferred
- Familiarity with both analog and digital layout tools and flows, circuit design concepts and
IC manufacturing processes desired

5.
Storage Bench Application & Development Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Respond promptly to customer technical issues pertaining to LSI device(s).
- Work with customer and/or customer sub-con to reproduce and characterize the customer
reported failure.
- Perform detailed and extensive experiments and analysis on bench and identify if
customer issue is due to LSI device or application / customer test related issue.
- Document technical findings with the above mentioned experiments carried out, and
update CTSC and other respective LSI internal team members.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with your customers and other team members to
maintain a technical network capable of resolving customer device issues quickly and
effectively.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Basic requirements
• A thorough knowledge of electronic circuits and systems with practical experience with
analogue and digital semiconductor electronics.
• Skilled in hardware and simple circuit design, programming, debugging, and problem
solving.
• Investigative and analytical mindset, with a desire to understand the technical details of
issues and failure mechanism as completely as possible.

Preamp Validation Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Supervise and mentor the validation team in shanghai and help manage their task
assignments and career development
- Ensure the development of timely, cost effective validation solutions that comply to the needs
of high speed, mixed signal, complex analog products
- Collaborate with design and product engineering group to identify, acquire and/or develop test
infrastructure to meet the validation capabilities and cost efficiencies required for future
products
- Plan validation methodology with Design engineering and customer requirements to ensure
proper DFT and DFD are designed into the product
- Collaborate with the design groups to increase the use of Design For Test and Design For
Debug techniques to improve test quality, coverage and reduce the cost of test

Design Validation Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Set up bench test equipment and perform characterization measurements on high speed
mixed signal IC's, paying careful attention to measurement accuracy and repeatability and
test condition coverage
- Develop automated scripts and program test equipment to automate data collection and
report generation. Where automated measurements are not practical, manual data collection
is to be performed
- Work with design and other characterization teams in design verification and characterization
and errata corrective action, as well as work with program management, test and product
engineering to insure timely delivery of fully verified silicon
- Develop / Improve measurement accuracy and techniques and test condition coverage
- Support bench application engineers with in-depth customer specific measurements and
failure analysis
- Design and layout evaluation PCBs, paying careful attention to high speed signals and board
/ component parasitic
- Organize bench data into technical reports for reference and presentation. Presentation of
data to both internal and external customers
Requirements/Qualifications (Education):

ASIC Customer Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Customer Design Engineer is a challenging and cutting-edge position working with LSI
internal methodology and foundation IP development teams to support complex ASIC designs
for either external tier one customers or internal ASSP programs.
As an integral member of the customer design engineering team, the ASIC Customer Engineer
has responsibility for a wide range of tasks, including chip floor planning, place and route,
timing analysis, signal integrity, test, and design verification.
Responsible for support and completion of designs from customer provided RTL or Gate level
netlist using the latest LSI technologies.
Design completion tasks include
- Presales Support (die size support, memory generation, address customer questions and
concerns.)
- RTL Analysis & Synthesis
- Physical Design Implementation (bonding, floor planning, power structure insertion, place
and route, timing closure) using Synopsys Astro or ICC tools
- Test insertion using Mentor, LogicVision, or Virage tools
- Formal Verification (Verplex or Formality)
- Static Timing Analysis (Primetime and Primetime SI)
- Cross talk analysis
- Power verification
- DRC & LVS
Overtime, all ASIC customer engineers within the design center are expected to develop the
skills to be able to do most of the tasks described above in this role. Candidates having strong
skill sets one or more of the following areas should apply:
RTL Analysis/Synthesis/STA: The ideal candidate should have strong skills for the front-end of
design implementation which includes RTL Analysis, Synthesis Strategies, and STA setup for
complex ASIC environments. This would include strategies for power management.

Physical Design Implementation: The ideal candidate should be strong in either the Physical
Design which includes floor planning, design closure, & STA. Having strong DRC & LVS skills
are a plus. Strong Synopsys Astro/ICC experience a plus. Having strong Mentor Calibre skills

DFT: The ideal candidate should be strong in all DFT (Design for Test) for all aspects. This
would include scan/TDF, TestKompress, MEMBIST/BISR, JTAG and etc… Having strong STA
skills is a plus for timing for all aspects of test. Responsible for support / debug of customer
designs after delivery of prototypes
Strong communications skills are important to this position. This is a position for developing
and honing verbal and written communication skills, and for interfacing to many different
people and engineering teams within LSI. Position requires weekly interface with LSI
customers.
A successful candidate will have strong debug skills, good scripting skills, and hands on
experience with physical design and test tools. Previous experience in taping out an ASIC or
ASSP is ideal for this position.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
5+ years experience in ASIC design and implementation. Familiar with Verilog RTL coding,
Verilog Simulators (NC or VCS) , Synopsys Design Compiler, Synopsys ICC Physical design
tools, PrimeTime for Static Timing Analysis, Mentor FastScan, LogicVision, Verplex (or
Formality), and scripting. The ideal candidate should have completed at least one successful
ASIC or ASSP tapeout. Successful tape out using Synopsys Astro or ICC considered a strong
plus. Experience in working with customers desired. Experience in working with and
debugging prototypes considered a strong plus. Knowledge and hands on use of test insertion
/ vector generation / verification a plus. Some experience with Signal integrity a bonus. Must
possess excellent communication skills; be able to effectively communicate with other
members of the design team, supporting organizations, and management.

Verification Design Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for Design, Verification and customer support of protocol systems. Good
knowledge of High Speed Interconnects, Storage and Networking Protocols, such as PCI
Express, Ethernet, Fibre Channel, Serial RIO, Interlaken. Good communication skill is must.
Experience with FPGA prototyping/validation a plus.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Good knowledge of High Speed Interconnects, Storage and Networking Protocols, such as

Senior Verification Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Duties will include working with a Verification Team to develop reusable block and system level
verification environment using high level verification language to support
ASIC development.
Review RTL architectural and implementation specifications. Develop test plan, create stimulus drivers,
monitors, reference models, scoreboards, protocol checkers to verify
function and performance of advanced multiprotocol networking ASICs.
Define and develop application tests required to verify ASICs meet functional and performance goals.
Define and implement functional coverage plans.
Define and implement code coverage plans. Develop testing and regression
methodologies for new verification flow.
Coordinate test plan implementation and
regressions with remote team.
Incorporate reusability into all aspects of the verification environment.
Develop/maintain/enhance environment tools/scripts/makefiles.
Functional/Industry Knowledge:
Required:
- Minimum of 4-6 years ASIC verification experience in a product development environment
- Proven ASIC Design Verification skills
- Proficient with high level verification languages such as System Verilog and Specman e.
- Knowledge of data and telecommunication networking
- Proficient with one or more scripting languages, such as Shell, Perl and TCL.

Test Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- To support prototype and production releases of new products. Manage debug of test
program and hardware and meet product release schedules.
- Support test program development for implementing changes in new test methodologies
for test coverage improvement.
- Pursue Design for Test initiatives to optimize testability and achieve test cost reduction via
test time reduction and multiple site test solutions for production release.
- Support test chip test development and characterization of new IP used in LSI products.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- University graduate students with top scores in GPA
- Prior working experiences in the semiconductor industry field, specially in either IDM,
Fabless, or Foundry environment
