Job description:

As a Firmware Engineer at PMC-Sierra, you will develop firmware for embedded processors within modern System-on-Chip (SoC) internet infrastructure devices.  In addition to firmware development, your team will also perform system-level testing of firmware-based features on the prototype devices.
We are currently seeking an energetic and innovative individual for a position as a Firmware Engineer.


Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Leader of the Firmware Design group within the Communications Product Division, you will do the following:

Design, develop, integrate, and test new communications-oriented firmware features as assigned by the Firmware Lead. Perform system-level testing of firmware-based device features on emulation platforms and prototype devices.
• Create all necessary documentation for each completed feature, and release and maintain Firmware deliverables as needed.

Job Qualifications

The qualification requirements for this position include the following:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. Three or more years of experience with embedded software development. Experience with firmware development for embedded MIPS (or similar) CPU systems. Experience with C/C++ and assembly code development. Experience with Ethernet and other communications protocols. Experience with Integrated Development Environment tool chains (Green Hills MULTI or similar). Experience with scripting languages (Tcl/Tk, Perl, or similar). Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on debugging skills. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience as part of a collaborative development team.
