ESD’s System Validation Team



Here are some of the things we do on a typical project:


·
Design Emulation Platforms using leading-edge FPGAs.
·
Translate VHDL into the Emulation Platforms, enabling system-level testing before device fabrication.
·
Design Validation Boards using ICs, digital and analog circuits, and programmable devices.
·
Design Software and Firmware for validating SOC devices and the real-time embedded firmware.
·
Integrate test systems containing servers, HDDs, software, and our Validation and Emulation boards.
·
Create system Configuration Scripts to control the test system, and the test equipment.
·
Plan and execute device feature tests, results analysis, bug detection, and root-cause analysis.
·
Work closely with and support members of the Product Design, Verification, Applications, Marketing, and Product Engineering teams.


To build up the ESD System Validation at Shanghai, we are currently looking for a leader, and multiple senior, intermediate. firmware engineers.
As a member of this team, you need to be highly motivated to learn, have first-class debugging and problem-solving skills, be motivated to develop sophisticated hardware and software platforms, and be able to quickly master the devices and systems that ESD develops.

Job Responsibilities

Design and develop storage system validation-oriented software and firmware features as assigned by the team lead. Develop automated test cases using TCL, Perl and Java.
Perform system-level testing of device features on emulation platforms and validation boards. Utilize defect tracking tools to report on validation progress and product quality.

• Create all necessary documentation for each completed project.

Job Qualifications

Master or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. Three years of experience with SOC software development and testing (MIPS or similar). Experience with scripting languages (Tcl/Tk, Perl, or similar). Experience with C/C++ code development and RTOS(ThreadX, VxWorks, Embedded Linux) Specific knowledge of one or more of the following is an asset

Experience in storage protocol development such as SCSI, Fibre-Channel, SAS/SATA, RAID and/or enclosure management
PCI Express
Ethernet

• Bus protocols such AXI, AHB, OCP
  
• Peripherals like UART, I2C, Nand, NOR

Job Responsibilities

Develop a Functional Validation Test Plan (FTP) for a storage product.
Develop the test automation strategy and implementation for execution of the FTP.
Develop product interop and system test strategy.
Participate in the specification of features and architecture of hardware and firmware components for new products.
Utilize defect tracking tools to track validation efforts and product quality.
Contribute to estimation of execution schedule of FTP.
Participate in detailed design and code reviews of implementations.
Isolate and help resolve complex software problems in embedded real-time systems.

• Present technical information to small teams of engineers and technical marketing personnel.
  

Job Qualifications

Master or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. 5+ years of software/firmware system development or validation for storage systems or comparable experience. Knowledge of RTOS constructs including processes, threads, scheduling, synchronization mechanisms, and memory management. Knowledgeable in use of tool chains and debug tools.
• Specific knowledge of one or more of the following is an asset

• Experience with RAID/HBA and SAS/SATA/SCSI architectures

Job Responsibilities

Technically lead a team of hardware and firmware engineers to validate SoC storage products. Guide one or more storage semiconductor product validation sub-teams.
• Participate in the specification of features and architecture of hardware and firmware components for new products.

Lead your team in the troubleshooting and resolving complex problems. Write as well review the creation of comprehensive engineering documentation. Participate as part of a team in the technical analysis and integration of storage firmware architectures including SATA/SAS/RAID architectures.
• Be technically responsible for the day to day activities of the testing of a storage product including interactions with customers and internal groups.

• Assist in the execution and evolution of the development process.

Job Qualifications

Master or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. Detailed working knowledge of firmware design and implementation. Detailed working knowledge of SOC hardware design and implementation. Effective communicator (verbal and written) of technical ideas. Ability to plan work and lead product validation team. Willingness to set and meet deadlines. Highly motivated, sets personal goals, and achieves goals without supervision. 7+ years work experience with 2+ years in a technical leadership position.
• Specific knowledge of one or more of the following is an asset
  

Experience in storage protocol development such as SCSI, Fibre-Channel, SAS/SATA, RAID and/or enclosure management
Experience with RAID/HBA and SAS/SATA/SCSI architectures

• Some project management (planning, resource management, requirements management, status reporting, schedule tracking, risk management) skills
