电子系统级设计（ESL）：现实还是涂有外表之物

Hi,My opinion about ESL is that if your company has an R&D department and a lot of money to spend than ESL is not bad. But much time & money and human ressource investements are necessary to begin.
The other point is that ESL is not for small projects. I think that the minimum project should contain: 1 or more CPUs, many high speed interfaces, some arbitration problems, high-bandwidth memory interfaces, several complex math (telecom problems, DSP, information theory, cryptography).
So in my own oppinion ESL is for companies that are developping bleeding edge solutions.
In research ESL may also be very useful, since very often universities are participating in large scale projects.

I forgot to mention another argument about ESL.
Many of the products cannot be considered as mature enough to be used by non very high qualified personnel. So this is one more argument in fafour of using them in R&D environment (company R&D or university).
