One more related paper: Oscillator Phase Noise: A Tutorial Thomas H. Lee, Member, IEEE, and Ali Hajimiri, Member, IEEE
First of all, the owner of this post is trying to ask the possibilities on publishing articles on good journals without real tape out results. My answer is trying to provide examples for the possibility, of course, out of the scope of the common sense, that is, CAS related papers apparently should include a detailed fabricated circuit result.
Secondly, it is obvious that the intentions of those authors were to publish their general theories instead of describing some kind of particular circuit architectures, I believe you also agree if they grab your chip, they can still write those masterpieces. If you looked into their backgrounds before they became famous, you would find their situations and methods when writing these papers. For example, Mirzaei had been with Broadcom for almost a decade before he joined PSU as a faculty, I believe you understand his injection locking theories have been in succession, quite apparently, his thoughts and hand writings came out first, those dies were just at the corner in some company lab, but just could serve as his verification tool.
Last, as a member in the CAS community, especially, in China, we should make every effort to make things easy and possible and lower any unnecessary high threshold for more interested parties to join and make contributions in this CAS society in China. Our arguments should be objective, positive, instead of rather stiff.
