Well, you have to master Linux from now on as Linux is the only OS for the majority of chip design EDA industry. Most engineering/technology software used to be only found on UNIX/Linux prior to 2000. This was particularly true for engineering schools and technology companies in US at that time when almost all engineering labs were ubiquitously equipped with UNIX/Linux workstations. And now UNIX/Linux has encroached into people's daily lives as evidenced by the widespread use of Apple's iPhones/iPad and Android phones/pads which are the clones of UNIX/Linux anyway. So the Linux is the future if you want to make some serious money.
So you has problem in running patch on Cadence software mentioned in the tutorial? Did you read the read.me file you downloaded together with the patch? It instructs you how to run the patch: ./cadence_patch.sh /eda_soft/cadence/EDI131. That is, if you place all Cadence software in a directory like /opt/cadence such as /opt/cadence/IC616, /opt/cadence/MMSIM131, /opt/cadence/ASSURA141, and so on, you have to place the patch to this /opt/cadence too. Then run the command on the terminal in that directory /opt/cadenc to every subdirectory: sudo ./cadence_patch.sh IC616, sudo ./cadence_patch.sh MMSIN131, sudo ./cadence_patch.sh ASSURA141, and so on。 |
