The book is intended as a useful reference source in optical engineering for both advanced students and engineering professionals. Whilst grounded in the underlying principles of optical physics, the book ultimatelylooks toward the practical application of optics in the laboratory and in the wider world. As such, examplesare provided in the book that will enable the reader to understand and to apply. Useful exercises and problems are also included in the text. Knowledge of basic engineering mathematics is assumed, but an overallunderstanding of the underlying principles should be to the fore.
