Description:
o Join the Communications’ Software Development team as a WiFi Software Manager specializing in 802.11, Radio MAC, Radio technologies, the delivery of platforms, and software releases.
o Take on a role that focuses on Leader but could include Implementation.
o Work with cross-functional teams on software and chip architectures for next ?generation 802.11ac MIMO chipsets.
o Work with Product Marketing to create product road maps, nail down customer requirements, and plan software programs to deliver the results.
o Design high performance, scalable, and modular subsystems for 802.11ac standards based chipsets. Ability to work with the asic team to define new devices. Ability to make existing architectures take on new applications.
o Lease development of advanced rate adaptation, power savings, dynamic frequency selection, radio management, and interference avoidance algorithms.
o Manage development of firmware, device driver and applications.
o Manage software releases. Ability to create a software branch plan, and execute it. Knowledge of Source Control Management systems like Perforce.  
o Knowledge of software licensing concepts, including Open Source licenses. Proven ability to leverage WiFi open source software like OpenWPA, HostAPD, and OpenWRT to deliver product quality software.
o Must have knowledge of Agile and Waterfall engineering processes.  
o Proven skills in recruiting embedded software engineers.  
Requirements:
o MS in EE, CE, CS or equivalent.
o 8+ years relevant firmware or embedded software development and debugging experience.  
o 3+ Experience in a SW management role..
o Expertise in defining software branching strategies to allow teams to do concurrent development.
o Hands-on experience with 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac SoC or product development.
o In depth knowledge of 802.11 and WiFi Alliance specifications, like 802.11ac and Hotspot 2.0
o Experience with Linux kernel and network device driver development.
o Knowledge of Linux Embedded Development and development of “bare metal” embedded software. Knowledge of both Linux technology and licensing required. Knowledge of WiFi Open Source projects like hostapd and open supplicants. Experience moving high data rates with a variety of hardware interfaces including PCIe.
o Knowledge of TCP/IP and Networking. Knowledge of Switching and interconnect architectures a plus.
o Understanding of how to lead the creation of common SDKs to meet the requirements of systems customers in different market segments.  
o Knowledge of Linux Embedded Development and development of “bare metal” embedded software. Knowledge of both Linux technology and licensing required. Knowledge of WiFi Open Source projects like hostapd and open supplicants.
