The physical design manager will lead a physical design team to successfully complete hierarchical IC designs with the following primary duties:
• Build a world class design team
• Select and build a physical design flow for RTL to GDSII
• Complete third party IP integration and ensure vendor guidelines are followed
• Create and continually improve design flows and methodologies based on industry best practices
• Use scripting languages, configuration management, batch processing, and other techniques to ensure design quality and minimize turnaround time
• Coordinate with Management on resources and scheduling
• Ensure that the staff is motivated and their career development goals are aligned with company and group objectives
Candidate Qualifications:
Candidate must:
• Hold MSEE
• Have minimum of 10 years hands-on experience in IC back-end physical design and verification
• Have demonstrated physical design team leadership and ability to mentor and train staff to maximize overall productivity and predictability
• Have completed hierarchical IC projects in 65 nm and below
• Possess good presentation, communication skills and leadership qualities
• Have experience designing and implementing clock trees for complex designs
• Have the ability to independently identify and resolve design, tool, and flow problems
• Be able to design and implement physical design strategies and methodologies for deep submicron designs
• Be able to complete block and chip level LVS and DRC
• STA constraint design
Tasks include all aspects of the physical design flow such as:
• RTL synthesis
• Creation of timing constraints
• Floorplanning and power grid implementations
• Hierarchical design partitioning
• Placement of standard cells
• Scan insertion / scan chain reordering
• Analog IP integration
• Power and IR drop analysis
• Clock tree synthesis
• Routing
• Parasitic extraction
• Timing verification
• Timing improvements for critical macro blocks
• Timing closure
• Noise analysis
• DFM analysis and improvement
• Signoff LVS/DRC
• Implementation of post tapeout ECO changes
