Product DescriptionThis multimedia book series on signal integrity by Dr. Nakhla and Dr. Achar provides an in-depth treatment of high-frequency effects in VLSI and microwave circuits, modeling/simulation difficulties associated with high-speed interconnects, and a thorough study of modeling/simulation strategies for high-speed interconnects, including model-reduction based algorithms. The complete series contains approximately 24 hours of intense multimedia presentations. The material covered spans the spectrum of very basic concepts to the most recent advances in the area of High-Speed Circuit Analysis, Interconnects, Signal Integrity and Model-Reduction Algorithms. Each book starts with the very basic fundamentals, provides ample number of examples, illustrations, literature reviews, animations, necessary relations and derivations. As the book progresses, advanced concepts are introduced and discussed in-depth. The following multimedia books are included in this series:
1. Introduction to High-Speed Circuit and Interconnect Analysis
2. Principles of Circuit and Interconnect Simulation
3. Fundamentals of Multiconductor Transmission Line Analysis
4. Model-Reduction Algorithms: Principles, AWE, CFH & Macromodeling
5. Theory of Eigenvalue Analysis and Orthogonal Systems
6. Krylov Subspace Techniques for Circuit and Interconnect Analysis
This book series is multimedia and CD based, presented in an easy to understand style and are offered in a user-friendly desk-top environment where one can learn in-depth valuable material at his own pace and chosen time-schedule. The complete signal integrity series spans approximately 24 hours and covers the related graduate material for one full semester.
About the AuthorDr. Michel Nakhla Michel Nakhla is professor of Electrical Engineering at Carleton University and is a Fellow of IEEE. Dr. Nakhla received the M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 1973 and 1975, respectively. From 1976-88, Dr. Nakhla was with NORTEL Networks, Ottawa, Canada, as a Senior Manager of CAE group. In 1988, he joined Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada as a professor and the holder of the Computer-Aided Engineering Senior Industrial Chair established by NORTEL Networks and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. He is the founder of the high-speed CAD research group at Carleton University and is a frequent invited speaker on the topic of high-speed interconnects. Dr. Nakhla serves as technical consultant for several industrial organizations and is the principal investigator for several major sponsored research projects. He also serves as editor/reviewer for several leading international journals. He also serves in the organizing/technical committees of several international conferences and workshops. Dr. Nakhla is one of the leading researchers in the world, in the area of high-speed interconnect analysis. He has published extensively (more than 300 articles) in prominent international journals. Also he has authored/edited three books, all in the area of high-speed interconnects. He has been awarded the prestigious Microwave Prize by the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) for the year 2002 (recognizing the most significant contribution in the field of interest to the MTT Society). He was recognized as a fellow of IEEE for his contributions to the area of high-speed interconnects. His Students have won numerous international/national awards including the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) doctoral award (only four awards are given among all the disciplines, nationally, at the doctoral level), Strategic Microelectronic Consortium Industrial Collaboration Award, Best Paper Awards in IEEE International Conference on Electrical Performance of Electronic Packages (EPEP), IBM Fellowships etc. Dr. Nakhla's research interests include CAD of VLSI and microwave circuits, modeling and simulation of high-speed interconnects, nonlinear circuits, multidisciplinary optimization, thermal and EMI analysis, MEMS and neural networks. Dr. Ram Achar: Ram Achar is an assistant professor of Electrical Engineering at Carleton University, and is a member of IEEE. Dr. Achar received the B. Eng. degree in electronics engineering from Bangalore University, India in 1990, M. Eng. degree in micro-electronics from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India in 1992 and the Ph. D. degree from Carleton University in 1998. He spent the summer of 1995 working on high-speed interconnect analysis at T. J. Watson Research Center, IBM, New York. He was a graduate trainee at Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute, Pilani, India during 1992. He was also previously employed at Larsen and Toubro Engineers Ltd., Mysore, India and at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India as an R&D engineer. During 1998-2000, he served as a research engineer in the CAE group at Carleton University. Dr. Achar received several prestigious awards for his work on high-speed interconnect analysis, including: · Natural Science & Eng. Research Council (NSERC) doctoral award,
· University Medal for his doctoral work,
· Strategic Microelectronics Corporation (SMC) Award,
· Canadian Microelectronics Corporation (CMC) Award,
· The best student paper award in the Micronet annual workshop. His research interests include modeling and simulation of high-speed interconnects, numerical algorithms, and development of computer-aided design tools for high-frequency circuit analysis. |
