选择PIC单片机的几大理由：

I have been using PIC for years, somehow compared to the other manufacturer, PIC is a bit more user friendly and have larger follower base.
This enable beginners to easily learn new things to do with the chips.

However, recent developments of new chips seems to flood the microchip line up, and made it difficult to select chip to be used in your project.
As opposed to the TI lineup such as MSP430 family that only have a few to select, it is easier to make up your mind.

I think chip selection is like learning to drive a car. The Automatic is easy, but the manual transmission gives you more control.

同意楼主的看法，单片机应该入门不难，不过同样的功能，实现的代码还是看能力的

pic指令太少，也不是很好
适合纯io操作，玩具之类的。
有通讯要求的pic就不好弄了

最近做课设，用的PIC，感觉灵活性还是很好的，大部分指令周期和指令字节数匹配也省却了很多麻烦。

选用单片机需要综合考虑项目的需要，pic单片机有精简指令集是好，还需要与外围电路的接口，另外就是耗电情况，这方面TI的几款在睡眠状态时电流只有几微安
