This course introduces the student about motor characteristics, device characteristics, power converters and controls for dc, induction, synchronous, stepper and switched reluctance drives to provide knowledge of circuit protection and heat sinks for power electronics


Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the performance, characteristics and operation of a range of industrial drive systems and the advantages and disadvantages of different types of power converter and drive systems.
