ABOUT THE TEAM

The Thermal/Mechanical design team atAMD is responsible for the thermal, mechanical and acoustic design of graphicscards, including the AMD Radeon™, AMD Radeon Pro™, and AMD Radeon Instinct™line of desktop, workstation and server cards.

This team is essential to the successof AMD as a growing company. It is a high impact global team, and there areplenty of opportunities to make significant contributions that will impact the endproduct. You will be working on some of the most exciting projects the industryhas to offer.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Member of Technical Staff (MTS),you will be responsible for end-to-end development and delivery of commercially-viablediscrete GPU thermal/mechanical solutions to the marketplace in a timely and cost-effectivemanner.

You will focus on:

Product scoping and definition of silicon-levelthermal sensing and control features and architecture, thermal solutionfeasibility analysis and scoping, including cost analysis for volumemanufacturing. Understand the requirements from customers and system design andbreak down into thermal solution level requirements.

Product Design ofgraphics card thermal solutions, including CFD simulations, FEA and CAD designto meet or exceed the product requirements and schedule with an eye towardscost optimizations and industrial design considerations.

Characterization ofgaming, workstation and server products through prototyping, test and analysis.This includes creating test plans for thermal, mechanical and acoustic tests,data analysis, debug and optimization at a card-level and customer/referencesystem-level.

Technology development fromthe chip-level to the system-level to constantly drive innovation and push theboundaries of electronics cooling and productize leading edge technology forvolume manufacturing.

This role requires considerable use ofinitiative and independent judgment – all within a framework of atightly-coordinated, uniformly-executing global team.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

·
1. Communication, teamwork and problem solving: Excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills at the engineering and executive levels, including aproven track record of working across organization boundaries to definerequirements, solve complex problems and drive programs to successfulcompletion.

2. CAD: Experience with SolidWorks and/or Creo is required.

·
3. CFD/FEA: Experience with Icepak and/or Flotherm is required. FEAexperience in ANSYS is a plus.

4. Lab Skills: Experience with Design of Experiments,instrumentation, data acquisition and data analysis, including uncertaintyanalysis.

5. Manufacturing: Good knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturing),including experience with volume manufacturing in Asia as well as NorthAmerica.

6. Education: Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering + 5 years, orPhD + 3 years relevant experience in an electronics cooling related7.Thermal/Mechanical Engineering role.

8. Very strong English skillsrequired – verbal and written

9. Experience in the thermal and mechanical design for rack-mountedserver equipment for the datacenter is a plus.
