Job Description

You will be working with internal and external customers to develop state of the art IC solutions utilizing ×'s leading edge CMOS cell-based ASIC technologies. You will have responsibility for ASIC designs through all of the key development and implementation phases including RTL analysis, synthesis, design optimization, timing verification, simulation, test insertion, physical design, vector generation, and post-prototype test support. Candidates will have opportunity to work on the latest 40nm/28nm designs.
Detail design tasks include
- Presales support (die size support, memory generation, addressing customer questions and concerns.)
- RTL analysis & synthesis
- Top level and block level physical design Implementation (bonding, floor planning, power structure insertion, place and route, timing closure)
- Test structure insertion/silicon testing debug
- Formal verification
- Static timing analysis
- Cross talk analysis
- Power verification
- Physical verification

Requirements/Qualifications (Education)
Education: BS/MS Electrical, Computer Engineering or Equivalent
- 2+ years experience in ASIC design and implementation. Familiar with all aspects of ASIC design implementation flow and specializing in physical design or DFT implementation. The ideal candidate should have successfully completed at least one mid-size ASIC or ASSP tapeout.
- Experience with Synopsys Astro or ICC is a plus. Other physical design tool experience will also be considered. Scripting skill is a strong plus.
- Experience in debugging prototypes considered a strong plus. Knowledge and hands on use of test insertion / vector generation / verification a plus. Some experience with Signal integrity a bonus.
- Experience in working with customers is desired. Must possess excellent communication skills and strong self-motivation. Be able to effectively communicate with other members of the design team, supporting organizations, and management. This position requires frequent interface with LSI customers
- Candidates have ONE OR MORE good skill sets of the following areas are highly encouraged to apply:
- RTL Analysis/Synthesis/STA: The ideal candidate should have strong skills for the front-end of design
- implementation which includes RTL Analysis, Synthesis Strategies, and STA setup for complex ASIC
- environments. This would include strategies for power management.

Primarily drives and participates in technical engagements in the Asia Pac region. Key job functions included (but not limited to) the implementation of high performance designs using very advanced technology nodes (28nm or below), deployment of low power and hierarchical solutions. Occasionally provides pre-sales technical support for the development and implementation of complex products/applications/solutions. Uses in-depth product knowledge to provide technical expertise to sales staff and the customer through technical engagements, sales presentations and product demonstrations. Assists the sales staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs and preparing detailed product specifications for the development and implementation of customer applications/solutions. May create detailed design and implementation specifications for complex products/applications/systems. May build a mini-application based on customer requirements to demonstrate feasibility of the application, often requiring rapid prototyping and/or product demo for client. May provide consultation to prospective users and/or product capability assessment and validation. May also provide post-sales technical support for implementation, training, and maintenance of company products/applications/solutions.
Understands and explains related technical issues, knowledge of company products and all potential applications. Has a working knowledge of one or more programming languages. Has effective communication skills. Excellent customer interface, negotiation communication, and planning skills are required. Leads and manages complex tasks to achieve timely completion consistent with program schedule and cost constraints.
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience. Possesses a solid understanding of specialization area plus working knowledge of one other related area. Resolves issues in creative ways. Exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions. Execute projects from start to completion. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Receives little instructions on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments and projects. Determines and develops recommendations to solutions. Work is evaluated upon completion to ensure objectives have been met. Works on team-driven or task-oriented projects. May guide more junior peers with aspects of their job. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.
Description:

As a Physical Design Consultant, you will be
responsible for assisting our customers successfully tape out from RTL to GDS
or from Netlist to GDS
Your main focus will be in the areas of
design planning, floorplanning, physical synthesis, place and route, parasitic
extraction, signal integrity analysis and prevention, IR drop analysis and
physical verification (DRC/LVS). A secondary focus will be in logic synthesis,
static timing analysis and formal verification You will be working as a member
of the customer's IC design team, leveraging their experience and  and
industry best practices to have immediate impact on their current project while
transferring valuable knowledge for future projects.

Interacts regularly with customers to identify
and eliminate barriers to project success. Plans and manages delivery of own
project-related tasks. Leverages entire team to ensure project
success. Provides feedback to R&D on suggested tool enhancements. Works
with Project Lead to develop technical proposals, learning project life cycle.
Produces consistently high quality technical solutions.


Requirements:

BSEE
or higher with 5+ years industry experience, at least 5 years in physical
design role.
- Familiar with Floorplan, Place and route, DRC/LVS, IR drop and Signal
Integrity etc.

Familiar with STA, Formal Verification and Synthesis is better.

- Will
have demonstrated successful completion of 4+ physical design projects through
to tape (at least one at 0.13um or below) as an individual contributor
- Will have demonstrated successful completion of at least one physical design
project as a technical leader
- Will have demonstrated solid verbal and written English communication skills,
customer interfacing skills, and business savvy
- Will have demonstrated the ability to work in a stressful environment with a
broad array of individuals in a cross-functional team.
- Is able to work on-site at customer premises, travel up to 30%, and put in
long hours when required to meet customer deadline.
