Job Title:
R&D Engineer – Electronic Engineer
Position Location: Shanghai, China

Division/Business Unit Summary: CAD/Molecular


China Technology Center is a new growth engine for Thermo Fisher in China as well as global. We are responsible for the new product development, existing product upgrading, product localization, and innovational application and technology development. We are a booming team to host great talents growing here with success.

Position Summary:

The engineer will work in a cross functional team and be required to specify, design and develop innovative and reliable Analogue, digital designs to satisfy functional specifications that are fit for production. The position will be fully responsible for the developments and designs that take place in conjunction with other engineers, some of whom may be based at other locations. To ensure quality, it is essential that at every stage of the product development Process (PDP), the appropriate documents are created and maintained in accordance with company procedures;

Key Responsibilities:

-Work with cross function team to understand customer requirement, participate in system/subsystem design review, finalize detail electric design requirement by reviewing with system team, global engineering team;
-Design schematic of digital/analog and mix signal electric circuit board that satisfied the design requirement;
-Analyze and simulate the performance of the circuit; Create the design documents for design review (HDD,FMEA etc.), and verification plan mapping to the key performance and reliability requirement;
-Verify the design performance to meet the requirement, complies with the Manufacturability and Serviceability, and achieve the cost/reliability target;
-Collaborate closely with the mechanical engineering team members to create product enclosures with compelling design and form-factors that also meet regulatory, safety, environmental, reliability, thermal and interface standard (Ethernet, USB, etc.) compliance requirements;
-Collaborate closely with the firmware engineering team members to create optimal hardware/firmware partitions that meet functional requirements and cost goal;
-To work with the sourcing team and the supplier to coordinate the manufacturing and test specification and procedure for ICT and FCT of PCBA to make sure the PCBA from production line can meet design requirement;
-New product introduce and technical support to manufacture, as well as the cost reduction projects;
- Other duties as assigned;


Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

-A Bachelor’s degree or above in Electronic Engineering, mechatronics or related field with a minimum of 5 years working experience;
-Experience in embedded system design with 8/16/32-bit microprocessor design such as 8051,MSP430 and arm;
-Excellent understanding of analogue, digital and power supply design fundamentals;
-Basic knowledge of signal integrity, EMC/EMI, CCC, UL, RoHS;
-Familiar with multi layers PCB layout,
proficient
in Altium Designer /Cadence
is preferred;
-Experience in FPGA design with Vhdl or verilog, familiar with Altera or Xilinx FPGPA programming/synthesis/simulation tools such as Quartus or ISE Foundation is preferred;
-Proficient in production equipments and testing instruments (digital oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers);
-Sound Design For Test (DFT) and Design For Manufacturing(DFM) background;
-Capable of analyzing the root cause when there is a failure in the electrical component and can provide the possible solution;
-The candidate must be flexible, pro-active and willing to learn and contribute to meeting team objectives;

Desired:
-Experience with analytical instrument industry, molecular spectrum related experience is plus;
-Experience with new product development with both local and global team;
-Good team working spirit with cross function, cross site team;

Position Summary:

The primary role of this position is responsible for the development and management of integrated requirements for molecular spectrum products. This individual will participate in the creation of product requirements, high level systems architecture, mechanical and electrical requirements, hardware and software requirements, as well as the verification test procedures, validation test procedures and other project documentation to ensure that mechanical, electrical and software subsystems function reliably as an integrated system. In addition, the individual also participate in product transfer projects, sustaining the existing products based on customer feedback, cost, and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities:
-Be responsible for the development of engineering specification and system architecture according to marketing requirement, interfaces with other design engineers responsible for user interface, industrial design, software, mechanical systems and compliance;
-Participates in and/or conducts technical reviews as defined in a structured, multi-stage product development process;
-Works with other functional team members (i.e. software, electrical, mechanical, reliability, manufacturing, service, quality, etc.) to resolve system / interface issues by evaluating overall systems performance / function;
-Generating test plans and procuring necessary equipment for mechanical and electrical testing of instruments undergoing development;
-New product introduce and full technical support to manufacture, as well as the cost reduction projects;
-Reports test outcomes by collecting, analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, and displaying data;
-To work with cross functional team to complete design change (ECR);
-Other duties as assigned;

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

-A Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechatronics, Electronic Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years working experience;
-At least 3 years’ experience in both new product development and new product introduce;
-Broad technical expertise across disciplines including electrical, mechanical and software engineering;
-Working knowledge of risk management techniques. (i.e. Risk Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), etc.). Be able to recognize problem areas and address them accordingly;
-Six Sigma or DFSS experience preferred;
-Self-starter and capable of working with minimal supervision.  Ability to multi-task across multiple projects;
-Experience in instrumentation or medical device design desirable.

Desired:
- Experience with analytical instrument industry, molecular spectrum related experience is plus;
-Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills;
-Experience with new product development with both local and global team;
-Good team working spirit with cross function, cross site team;
