Job Summary
The (Senior) Field Applications Engineer is the primary technical resource for pre-sale support activities. The position requires the ability to assist Company's customers and prospects in system architectural design, solving technical problems, and developing technical proposals to meet their application needs utilizing Company products. Additionally, some post-sale involvement is expected prior to transitioning customer to product support organization

Essential Functions
1. Work closely with prospects and customers to define application needs and design requirements.
2. Determine and provide quality solutions that best promote PowerPC and Transport OTN Framer/Mapper and Phy products.
3. Provide technical support to prospects/customers during evaluation periods.
4. Perform live demonstrations of operational hardware and software products.
5. Serve as the primary technical interface between prospects/customers, sales representatives, engineering, marketing, or production.
6. Provide technical support to sales for proposal writing, training, product definition, and other activities as required.
7. Develop and deliver product training for customers, prospects, and Company employees.
8. Assist Marketing and Engineering in new product definition and phases of the development.
9. Run benchmarks and do performance analysis of various hardware and software configurations.

Education and Training
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science

Special Skills/Knowledge
1. Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork are required as well as the ability to be a strong individual contributor capable of working remotely with minimal supervision.
2. Experience in interfacing with multiple customers and prospects, applying effective organizational skills for managing multiple tasks are required.
3. Knowledge of microprocessor based products (e.g. PowerPC, Intel Architecture), network and communication processors (e.g. Freescale, Intel, Broadcom), operating systems (UNIX, Linux, VxWorks), and network transport interfaces (e.g. T-carrier, SDH/SONET, OTN Framer/Mapper, phy). Experience with telecommunication protocols TCP/IP, 802.xx, and Familiarity with drivers of CPU peripheral like LCD, NAND flash, I2C, SPI….

Work Experience:
1. Minimum 5 years technical engineering experience (Hardware or Software Design, System Integration, Product Support) of embedded systems.
2. Minimum of 3 years experience as a Field Application Engineer in real time control and telecommunication applications is desirable.

Language Requirements
Fluent written and spoken English and Mandarin Chinese

Travel Requirements
1. Frequent domestic (within P.R.C) travel required.
2. Occasional international travel required.
3. Passport and ability to acquire necessary visas (United States, European Union) required
