M5 is not totally turned off untill the circuit move to the equilibrium point A. The reason is that if the circuit is at the undesired equilibrium point B, then there is no current through M1 and M2. However, M5 will provide a current in M1 that will cause the circuit to move to the equilibrium point A. As the circuit approaches the point A, the source voltage of M5 increases, causing the current through M5 to decrease. At point A the current through M1 is essentially the current through M3 and M5 is totally turned off. |
